Der Untergang

Finally saw it last Saturday. As i said here before, this is Oscar sure material. This movie can make it quite understandable to the world what it feels like to be German, to have 60 years of guilt pressing on your shoulders, and yet, it seems that this movie does a good job in finally relieving the Germans from this heavy duty.
Bruno Ganz as Adolf Hitler comes awfully close to the audience in portraying Hitler. There's only one scene in the movie where he actually speaks about the Holocaust, and showing no regret with his defeat only hours before him. The easy way to portray Hitler would, ofcourse, be as a Satan incarnate andinhuman. Ofcourse he wasn't. This is a very brave movie, and as soon as anyone has the chance to see it, they should. There's hasn't been a more essential movie than this since... i can't tell.
